Kuwait - Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court called the public to look out for the new crescent on Thursday to determine the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Kuwaiti news agency said on Tuesday.

"The Supreme Court wants Muslims all over the Kingdom to look out for the new moon on Thursday evening," the court said in a statement quoted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The new moon would be born Friday night, August 21, 2009, according to the calculations of the Umm Al-Qura Calendar.

Moreover, the Supreme Court stressed that people should report to the nearest court and disclose their testimony of sighting the crescent with the naked eye or with the aid of a telescope.
